We began life as far back as 1806 but received a lot of help
from neighbouring Baptist Churches, notably Stoney Street
in Nottingham.
After worshipping in several places, in 1835 we were able
to open our own church building in Gilbert Street (about 100
metres from the present building )
In 1849, we became independent of other Churches, developing
our own identity in the area and moving from strength to strength.
We enjoyed celebrating our ter-jubilee in October 1999.
Our present building in Watnall Road was opened in 1876.
From it's Victorian origins with a seating capacity of some
700, the building has been transformed into the present worship
centre and community base it is today.
With a membership of some 160 and a strong family atmosphere
we are seeking new ways of introducing more folk to know Jesus
as Lord. Meeting the needs of the local community is one way
we are able to share Jesus' love. Several organisations from
the area use the premises.
We are affiliated to the Baptist Union of Great Britain and
are active participants in the activities of "Churches
Together in Hucknall, Linby and Papplewick". In this
way we can share with our brothers and sisters in Christ not
only in the local community but further afield.
The church premises are used extensively throughout the week
for a variety of different functions. Why not drop in for
a cup of Coffee most mornings 1012.
We also have a Shoppers Chapel at the front of the
building where you can go in and have a quiet time of prayer
whilst out shopping in Hucknall.
