News & NoticesDay of Prayer and FastingAs preparation for our Church "New Start Day" on 20th November we are holding a day of prayer and fasting on Tuesday 16th November. Everyone is encouraged to find some time for special prayer and to consider fasting. Whilst this will mainly be personal prayer, the church will be open 10.00-11.00am, 2.00-3.00pm, and 7.00-8.00pm for anyone who would prefer to pray at church.

“So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer.” (Ezra 8:23) Jesus expected his followers to fast, he didn’t say “If you fast” but “when you fast” (Matthew 6:16). Fasting and prayer are often linked in the Bible, especially for special times of prayer. Therefore as we approach the church New Start Day, I would like to encourage everyone to consider praying and fasting on Tuesday 16th November. You may wish to fast for 24 hours (from tea time to tea time), or perhaps just miss one meal. In a normal fast water is drunk (if you’ve not fasted before you may wish to try fruit juices). If you’re not sure about going without food completely you could try a partial fast, just eating simple foods (see Daniel 10:2,3). If you have any medical conditions you should check it out with your doctor first. Fasting expresses our spiritual devotion to God and helps us to set aside time to seek God in prayer. Whether you are able to fast or not, please spend some time on the 16th praying for the church and the New Start Day. Prayer Pointers If you feel God is speaking to you during the day, you may find it helpful to write it down to share later. If you would prefer to come to Watnall Road to pray, the church will be open for prayer at the following times:
