The congregation enjoyed singing some traditional hymns and, inspired by the hymn "How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds", Rev Ian Smith spoke about the name of Jesus: a saving name, a special name, a soveriegn name, and the name of our friend. After the service we enjoyed a fantastic tea together. Using the story of the people of Israel spying out the land before entering into Canaan, he encouraged us to remember that there is more, never to be satisfied with our Christian lives, but to keep looking for more of God. After the service we enjoyed a Bring and Share Lunch together. On behalf of the church Trevor Clay thanked Paul and Mo for their ministry and gave them a gift as a token of the appreciation of the members of the church. We prayed for Paul's future ministry in Dorking and for the church there. To see the piles of donations around the tree was fantastic. On behalf of Home-Start, who distribute the gifts to children who would otherwise receive little for Christmas, Eileen Smith thanked the church for their generosity. Around 40 families and up to 100 children will benefit. After the service there was a Christmas meal for nearly 100 members and friends of the church. The catering team did a superb job - a big thank you to all who were involved.
