New BMS Link Up WorkersWatnall Road have been partnered with the Vickers family, who are in the final stages of preparation to go to Uganda to serve with BMS World Mission. An introduction from their recent prayer letter: “We live in Flitwick, Bedfordshire and have done since we were married nearly 19 years ago. We have two daughters, Harriet (12) and Bethany (10) who love dancing, music, art and science. As a family we love having days out together. Alex is a soil scientist and has lectured at Cranfield University with short-term projects overseas, researching soil conservation and land management. More recently he has been a consultant specialising in sports turf. Jackie has recently re-trained as a primary school teacher and before that worked in banking and telecoms specialising in finance and project management.” “Our thoughts now turn to the time when we will be leaving for Uganda in early August. We thank God again for providing us with a great house close to Rainbow International School, where the girls will attend. As well as the practical arrangements, our roles are also becoming slightly clearer. Jackie will be working in support of the ongoing education programmes run by the Baptist Union of Uganda, whilst Alex will be working in northern Uganda (near Gulu), helping Ugandan experts re-develop sustainable farming systems in the areas ravaged by the long civil war now that people are moving back to their villages with the closure of the Internally Displaced Peoples camps.” Please pray for the Vickers family as they make their final preparations: Follow the link to find out more details: http://www.bmsworldmission.org/uploads/documents/1003%20Vickers.pdf |
